Amazon Try On and Prime Wardrobe Review

Amazon has everything.  Literally, everything.  I don’t think there has ever been a time when I couldn’t find what I was looking for (or something close enough), when I was shopping on Amazon.  I have a toddler and an infant and getting out to do some “fun” shopping never turns out to be that…well…fun.  Amazon offers free two-day shipping to Prime members (along with a bunch of other perks), and since they carry any single thing our hearts desire, it’s easy to camp out in their app and get sucked into a shopping hole.  And if that’s not already irritating enough to my budget conscious husband, I’ve recently discovered Prime Wardrobe.

If you haven’t yet discovered this pretty little gem of a feature, this is how it works.  You browse through their (never-ending) clothing selection.  You can search whatever category you want, but a lot of the items are not “Prime Wardrobe Eligible”, so if you want to specifically hunt for those items, it’s best to type “Prime Wardrobe” in the search bar, along with whatever you’re looking for.  You’ll know if it’s eligible because there will be a “Try Before You Buy” option in the purchasing options.

Once you’ve picked out the items you want to try, just select the “Try Before You Buy” option.  Here’s a note:  If you have a regular saved method of payment and it’s a debit card, you’ll need to add a credit card.  They don’t accept debit cards for Prime Wardrobe purchases.  You check out, just as you typically would, and BOOM!  They drop the stuff in the mail to you.

It took a few days longer for my items to arrive than the usual two-day arrival I get from Amazon.  But it was still less than a full week.  All of my items arrived together, along with a little folder containing a return shipping label and instructions.  From the time you receive your items, you have seven days to try them on and decide whether or not you are keeping them.  If you choose to return an item, just drop it back in the bag you received your order in, attach the provided mailing label, and take it to a UPS drop-off.  You also want to take care of the return in your Amazon Prime account dashboard.  Amazon sends you a reminder email of this, which was great for me because I probably wouldn’t have remembered.

I returned one pair of jeans that were too small.  From the time I placed the order to the time to whole thing was complete, return and all, it took a total of nine days.  I didn’t have to wait for a refund on my card either because Amazon doesn’t charge your card until they know exactly which items you are keeping for sure.  The items are literally free for seven days.

Look, if you’re like me and it’s almost impossible for you to spend your sweet time leisurely shopping for yourself, this is a great way to go.  Honestly unless I’m by myself, which is almost never, this is probably the way I will shop from now on.  With two little ones, it’s the most convenient way for me to actually try things on before I buy them, and without the hassle of a return/refund procedure.  They had all types of different fashion choices and even some designer labels.  The jeans I returned were Calvin Klein.  They were great jeans!  I just ordered the wrong size and they wouldn’t go over this booty.  You can check them out yourself by clicking here.

(Disclaimer:  I make a commission from purchases made using one of my provided links.  This comes at no extra cost to you and is greatly appreciated.)

Now, on to the fun part of this post.  The stuff I kept.  The try on.

First thing up is this little number…

Every closet needs a little black dress.  I wore this outfit to the kick-off party for San Antonio’s Fashion Week.  If I’m being completely honest…I was waaaay overdressed.  But I wasn’t the only one and I really didn’t care.  For one, I’ll never see any of those people ever again.  And two:  I LOVED this dress.  If you don’t already know, I had a baby three months ago and for the first time in a LONG time, I felt pretty.  And sexy.  And like a boss…even though I looked like a baby deer learning to walk in those shoes.  The overlay hid all the right parts and the skirt was “almost adjustable” in length, meaning it could be a mini-skirt or you could pull it down closer to your knees.  There were multiple ways you could wear it and it was super fitting and slimming, and more comfortable than you would probably expect.  The clutch in this picture was perfect!  It was just the right size and the snakeskin was textured.  I could fit my wallet, cell phone, keys, and a few make-up items.  It could also be a clutch or it came with an over-the-shoulder gold chain strap.  Truth be told, the clutch was one of my favorite things I purchased and for only around $15, it was a steal.  To shop this look, click the links below:

The next thing I loved was the pair of jeans I did decide to keep.  I’ll be wearing these jeans in the all of the pictures in this post.  The brand is Skinnygirl by Bethenny Frankel, and I freaking love them.  Here’s the funny part:  These are somewhat “mom jeans”-ish and, had I known that when I ordered them, I wouldn’t have ordered them.  But buying these jeans was definitely a happy accident.  They are stretchy.  I know a lot of people have mixed feelings over stretchy jeans.  I’m with ya.  But like I said, I’m three months post partum and if I want to stray away from the stretchy pants, I have to stray to other stretchy pants.  These babies are so comfortable!  One of my favorite parts:  The shark bite hem.  Check it out…

I’m totally loving this shark bite hem trend and I think it looks adorable with a pair of heels.  Not a fan of heels?  You can easily roll the hem and wear them with booties.  Like this…

These jeans could also, obviously, be tucked in to some tall boots.  Between the comfortability and versatility, I’m planning on living in these things this season.  My opinion, they are an absolute must-have.  To shop these jeans, click the link below:

I think it’s safe to tell you that the next few pieces will be staples in my wardrobe until further notice.  I’m a sucker for a good cardigan.  Especially this time of year.  And when it comes to tank tops, can a girl ever really have too many?

No.  The answer is no.

Which brings me to the next item in our haul:  these tanks…

I bought this tank in gray and black.  If my husband would let me, I would 100% buy one in every single color they offer.  I still might because they had all the colors at $15-$17/a piece.  Like I said, tank tops are my jam and these are close to perfect.  The fit is long and flowy, but not flowy to the point of unflattering.  Just the right amount of flow.  It’s a ribbed fabric, which I also like, and the button detail on the neckline gives it a “more than a tank top” look.  Tanks can be dressed up or dressed down and what I love about them the most is that, while they are perfect for summer, throwing a cardigan over them makes them work in the cooler seasons too.  Here is an up close picture of the neckline and fabric…along with a sneak peek of one of the bitchin’ cardigans I got…

Now…lets talk about that snakeskin cardigan.

Animal print has pretty much been around since clothing was a thing.  But every now and then, it becomes super duper popular and everyone spends the season wearing it.  It’s one of those seasons.  I think we can all agree that animal print is having a real moment right now.

The first print I went for is this cardigan…

This cardi is super thin, lightweight, and comfortable.  And I absolutely love the somewhat duster length.  Perfect for Fall, but you may want to throw a scarf and jacket on over it during the chillier months.  I’ve already worn this a few different times, and every time I get complimented.  My sister actually told me she ordered the same one in leopard print and she loves hers as well.  And just look at the print up close…

It’s bold and sssssnakey.  I love it.  To shop this cardigan (it has multiple prints), click the link below:

The next animal print I snagged was this leopard cardigan…

This piece is really…cozy.  It’s an oversized fit, so it leaves room for a bunch of different looks.  It can be buttoned or left open and I love the way the sleeves kinof “bunch up” around the wrists.  Again, I’ve worn this a few times and get compliments each time I do.  It also comes in multiple prints.  To shop this warm hug of a cardigan, click the link below:

The last cardigan I ordered in this haul was a classic black cardigan…

Okay.  The last cardigan was cozy.  This one feels amazing.  The most comfortable cardi in my closet.  Again, it’s a little bit oversized and it’s made of an almost Sherpa material…only softer.  Here’s a close up…

Out of the last three cardigans, this one was probably my favorite-comfort wise.  Once again, multiple prints are available.  This is another must-have for Fall/Winter.  To shop this cardigan, click the link below:

My next find was this black off-the-shoulder sweater…

Again, this will be a staple in my closet this season and is probably another one of my favorites from this Amazon try on.  Off-the-shoulder is also having a moment this season and this shirt is a lot more practical than I thought it would be.  It’s from the Amazon Brand-Daily Ritual, and  it gives off a dressier look, but has the comfort of a hoodie or everyday sweater.  Plus, it’s on the longer side and I loved that about it.  Multiple colors available.  To shop this sweater, click the link below:

This last piece was my least favorite piece.  I still kept it because I think it will be okay for every day.  And I’m still sharing it with you because the only reason it’s my least favorite is because of the fabric.  Here’s a picture of it…

I’m all about ombre’ print and I love the look of this shirt.  But when it comes to material, I’m more of a super soft cotton t-shirt kinda girl.  This shirt felt more like staticky activewear.  I know that some people really aren’t bothered by fabric, and with the super affordable price, it was worth sharing.  This also came in many different colors.  To shop this shirt, click the link below:

Looking for my own style continues to be so much fun for me.  And the great thing about living in a world that revolves around technology?  Things like Amazon Prime Wardrobe.  Being able to try things on, at your own pace, in a place that isn’t a tiny dressing room is liberating.  I don’t have to haul my girls around to places they really don’t care about going.  I don’t have to worry about if I’m going to have enough room in the fitting room to keep them both contained.  I don’t have to wonder if they will be good or not.  I don’t have to fight traffic.  And most of all, I don’t have to wait to get my money back if I turn out not to like what I picked out.  I don’t have to worry about a customer service line or a return policy.  It’s straight up shopping at home, at my own convenience.  I know you other momma’s out there know what I’m talking about!

And as far as my try on haul goes…this is one of the first times I bought some things outside my comfort zone.  (Not too far outside, but outside nonetheless.  Baby steps.).  I tried something new and it just so happens…I loved it!  I want to keep going with it.  I want to run with it and see where it takes me.  Keeping up with the latest trends can be exhausting.  But it can also be So.  Much.  Fun.  This is all part of my journey.  I’ve been working so hard on my inner self and now I’m ready for my outer self to reflect that.  I’m going to keep digging and keep growing and keep experimenting.  Because I know that eventually, all of these roads will lead me closer to Finding Mrs. Carter.

Thanks for tuning in.  See ya next time!
